In anticipation of one of my favorite movie franchises coming out in theaters November 21st (Creed II), I give you a boxing inspired workout, Rocky style!
Jabs and Abs
This workout is fun for the whole family.
Part 1: Warm Up
  • Jump rope for 5 minutes
  • Every time you mess up, perform 5 push ups
Part 2: Workout ~ Set a timer/watch for 10 minutes.  Every 30 seconds switch back and forth from jabs to abs.  If you do not have a bag, shadow box with a dumbbell or hand only.
  • 30 seconds of jabs on a heavy bag.  Switch your stance every round.
  • 30 seconds of ab exercises.  Some examples are:
    • Sit ups
    • Crunches
    • Scissors
    • Russian twists (in honor of Ivan Drago)
    • Toe Touches
Part 3: Cool Down:
  • 1 mile jog as a family.

This workout can easily be modified to a 3 minutes warm up, 5 minutes of jabs and abs and a 1/2 mile or 400 meter cool down run.

What Our Clients Are Saying

I was worried about working with a personal trainer because I have an old knee and ankle injury. However, Nick makes it a priority to design workouts that not only push and challenge me physically, but take into account these injuries. Each session is different and I never know what to expect because he makes each workout fun and unique. I always feel motivated and encouraged by Nick specially on those days that I am not my strongest. Thanks to Nick and Family Fitness, I am getting stronger, healthier and enjoying "exercising" again after so many years of fearing or avoiding it.
